From Berg Lake at the base of Mt. Robson the trail descends, past Emperor Falls, to Kinney Lake, named for Rev. George Kinney, who is on the raft. Kinney made twelve attempts to climb Mt. Robson. In his final attempt, in 1909, he and Curley Phillips missed the summit, in snow and fog, by fifty feet.
