Soapy Smith, Athabasca Glacier from Wilcox Pass, 1924

After photographing Athabasca Glacier, from Wilcox Pass, the party circled Mt. Wilcox, and descended the scourged stone bed of an ancient former glacier, to meet up with Sunwapta River which flows north from Athabasca Glacier through what was then an impassable gorge.

Exhibition-quality archival digital print made with pigment inks on acid-free cotton fibre paper.

High resolution scanning and restoration of original negatives and transparencies by Carole Harmon.
