Soapy Smith was the outfitter for this expedition. He fattened up the horses for the arduous trip to come on his ranch near Morley, in the foothills east of Banff; Morley is in the Stoney-Nakoda Reserve. In order to teach them to walk on the treacherous glacial ice he initially tied their tails to the following horse.

Exhibition-quality archival digital print made with pigment inks on acid-free cotton fibre paper.

High resolution scanning and restoration of original negatives and transparencies by Carole Harmon.

Print sizes available:

  • 14×20 inch print = 13×19 inch image + ½ inch border on 14×20 inch paper.

  • 17×24 inch print = 16×23 inch image + ½ inch border on 17×24 inch paper.

  • 26×37 inch print = 25×36 inch image + ½ inch border on 26×37 inch paper.
