Fireweed, Chamaenerion angustifolium, is aptly named as it is one of the first plants to appear after wildfires, beginning the process of regeneration and new life. This photograph was taken in Kootenay National Park one year after the Tokkum-Verendrye wildfire burned 12% of the park in 2003.
