Abbot Pass and Abbot Hut, 1970's

Abbot Hut was built by Swiss guides from locally quarried stone, on the pass between Lake Louise and Lake O’Hara, in 1922. It accommodated climbers for a century before climate warming caused the hut to be removed by Parks Canada.

Exhibition-quality archival digital print made with pigment inks on acid-free cotton fibre paper.

High resolution scanning and restoration of original negatives and transparencies by Carole Harmon.

Print sizes available:

  • 14×19 inch print = 13×18 inch image + ½ inch border on 14×19 inch paper.

  • 24×32 inch print = 24×30 inch image + ½ inch border on 25×31 inch paper.

  • 29×37inch print = 28×36 inch image + ½ inch border on 29×37 inch paper
